An oncology registered nurse in this institution will deliver nursing care to patients undergoing treatment for various types of cancer by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards. The oncology registered nurse will maintain competency and application of the scientific knowledge necessary to meet patient needs. The oncology registered nurse demonstrates, through organizational skills, the ability to provide ease in flow of work. The oncology registered nurse is knowledgeable and supportive of the hospital, department and nursing philosophies.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred. Effective May 1, 2014, all new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within two years of hire and complete an approved BSN program within five years of hire.
Two years of oncology patient care experience preferred. Must be knowledgeable of current nursing practices.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
Current license in Kentucky. CPR required. OCN7 certification required within two years of employment.
