The Master’s Prepared Exercise Physiologist (EP) is a clinical exercise professional educated with a working knowledge of pathophysiology, medications, and exercise testing and prescription for chronically-diseased individuals (education received at a master’s level). The EP is responsible for implementing the fitness element of the cardiac/pulmonary rehab and lifestyle medicine programs. The EP monitors the participant’s response to the fitness element of the intervention and communicates clinical issues to the RN and Medical Director. Participates in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan to ensure the quality and clinical effectiveness of the program and the safety of each participant. Responsible for creating and implementing programs to match the participant’s lifestyle and interest. Develop and run programs to teach people about a healthy lifestyle. Responsible for designing, administering and managing exercise programs for participants with chronic diseases. The position is also responsible for outcomes management, telemetry monitoring and database management.
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
Education: Masters Required, Exercise Physiology
Accreditation: National certification from the American College of Sports Medicine. (RCEP or CEP). Must complete within 2 years of hire.
Experience (required and preferred):
Current certification in BLS and ACLS required
Formal education/training in cardiac rehabilitation and or exercise physiology preferred.
