OBGYN - Reproductive Endocrinology



Functions as the Technical Supervisor for Andrology services offered by the fertility clinic. Andrology responsibilities include semen analysis, semen preparation for IVF and IUI and semen cryopreservation. Responsible for equipment maintenance, inventory control and cryopreservation tanks.

Performs QC oversight for laboratory and as coordinator of andrology services. Also oversees donor sperm bank, oocyte bank, embryo bank and related shipping, receiving, and inventory of long-term storage specimens. Interacts with clinic staff and patients regarding lab services. Attends meetings with physicians and administration. Trains personnel in lab protocols and procedures.

** The position requires significant amounts of patient and physician communication, regular rotation in weekend coverage and the ability to work independently**




  • Performs Laboratory services in accordance with Laboratory policies and practices as set forth in the Operating, Safety, and Quality Management Guidelines
  • Assists Laboratory personnel in performing Laboratory services in accordance with Federal, State and Local laws and guidelines to ensure Laboratory maintains accreditation
  • Assists as required in maintaining Laboratory operations in conformity with OSHA and CLIA ‘88 regulations

Quality Management

  • Participates in Laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs as directed by the Laboratory Director or his/her designee
  • Participates as required in appropriate proficiency testing programs to monitor laboratory practice outcomes and to measure on a recurrent and regular basis that such outcomes meet or exceed industry and Hospital standards of practice


  • Carries out, as required or directed, laboratory services and functions in a manner that is consistent with the Laboratory’s operating procedures
  • Performs such duties as required to maintain laboratory readiness for inspection and review by appropriate regulatory agencies
  • Assist as required in the development and implementation of new laboratory services
  • Assist as required in maintaining equipment in good repair
  • Assist as required in the training of laboratory personnel
  • Attend laboratory meetings as requested by the Laboratory Supervisor/Director
  • Provide assistance and support as requested by the Laboratory Supervisor/Director


Assists as requested in the development, implementation and performance of research projects or clinical investigations within the laboratory or division



  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent certificate
  • Two years of documented experience in an hematology lab or equivalent with proficiency in all aspects of andrology
  • Must meet CLIA ‘88 requirements of education and experience for Testing Personnel
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with Laboratory Operating, Safety and Quality Management Guidelines
  • Must demonstrate skills and competency in all criteria appropriate to the position
  • Must demonstrate an ability to function effectively without direct supervision and to perform laboratory services in accordance with the Laboratory’s operating procedures
  • Must demonstrate a good work ethic and commitment to participate in appropriate programs of continuing education and professional development to maintain up to date knowledge in the laboratory specialty
