Shift: Full time, 1st Shift

 

About Us:

UofL Health is investing in the health of Bullitt County, and the surrounding area with an expansion of UofL Health – Medical Center South to become an inpatient hospital – UofL Health – South Hospital. South Hospital is expected to open in early 2024 and will add approximately 100,000 square feet of new space to the existing facility. South Hospital will include a 10-bed intensive care unit, medical/surgical patient rooms, six operating rooms, new cardiac catheterization lab, expanded emergency department, centralized sterile processing area, laboratory, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, respiratory therapy and more.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

  • Performs Stress Test Protocols as indicated by Physicians Orders.
  • IV Insertion
  • Understands absolute and relative contraindications to stress testing and screens patients for appropriate indications and contraindications prior to all exams.
  • Administers and interprets various types of treadmill and pharmaceutical testing.
  • Understand absolute and relative indications for terminating stress test.
  • Understands risk assessment and prognosis in patients with symptoms, prior history of CAD, ECG abnormalities, severe comorbidities or candidates for revascularization and notifying supervising physicians appropriately.
  • Exhibits knowledge of patient preparation and application of electrodes.
  • Records baseline and recurrent ECG’s, Blood Pressure and Patient symptoms throughout the exam and during recovery period.
  • Understand the role of reversal agents for adverse events as directed by the supervising Cardiologist.
  • Assists with echocardiogram bubble studies.
  • Ability to perform EKG’s and accurate interpretation of the EKG results.
  • Knowledgeable on Dysrhythmias.
  • Clinical Chart preparation, Complete Health Assessment. Review Medications and Allergies. Update patient history and reviews systems.
  • Administration of medications as prescribed by physician.
  • Performs Telephone Triage.
  • Works as a resuscitative team member in emergency situations, including administration of IV medications.
  • Assists Inpatient Cardiology team with follow-up appointments and discharge planning.
  • Performs follow-up calls for discharged patients.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • All new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are encouraged to start an approved BSN program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • A minimum of 2 years of patient care experience.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of science in nursing
  • Cardiology experience.
