Overview

This position will function in a fast paced medical setting, specializing in one or more areas of medical care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism and excellent communication skills to foster and contribute to a collegial environment, with the primary focus of providing outstanding care to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate an exceptional patient care experience by ensuring and assisting patient flow within the office, attending to needs of patients, their families and medical staff
  • Prepare patient for physician visit:
    • Obtain and document appropriate vital signs and health history information in Electronic Health Record (Allscripts).
    • Assist patients with any paperwork necessary for the visit.
  • Clinical duties:
    • Check vital signs,
    • Give injections (including immunizations),
    • Medication administration, breathing treatments, Pulmonary Function Testing, dressings, vision/hearing testing, suture removal, patient education and assisting physician with procedures.
    • Distribute/educate regarding home spacers and nebulizers.
    • Assist with follow up calls to families regarding visits/procedures.
  • Laboratory testing:
    • Specimen collection (including finger sticks/venipuncture),
    • Performing laboratory tests
    • Documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Patient triage:
    • Telephone and walk-in triage,
    • Patient documentation and follow up.
  • Documentation:
    • Check and maintain Crash Cart chart
    • Check and maintain Automated External Defibrillator on a rotational basis.
  • Assist with preparing clinical schedule.
  • Provide excellent, clear documentation in every area of the office. All documentation is done in the Electronic Health Record, either by entry or by scanning documents.
  • Work closely with physicians to ensure patient and family needs are met in an expeditious manner.
  • Assist in other areas of office as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Current RN license in the State of Kentucky
  • BLS certification is required
  • From 2 – 4 years’ clinical experience
  • Prefer experience in a physician office (or hospital) setting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Experience working with a pediatric population preferred
  • Working experience with Microsoft Word, Excel preferred
  • Electronic health record experience preferred
  • Self-directed and motivated with the ability to multitask
  • Strong organizational and communication skills required

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hospital or clinic environment with frequent exposure to electricity, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, infectious waste, fumes or gases, radiation, occasional exposure to laser and constant exposure to blood borne pathogens and biological.
