Responsibilities

The Cardiac Sonographer has a working knowledge of adult (ages 18-65), geriatric (ages 66 and over), neonatal (birth to 12 months), and occasionally and adolescent (ages 12-17) echocardiography, where applicable. The Cardiac Sonographer presents a pleasing and helpful manner to the patient, physicians, visitors, members of the department, and all other medical personnel. The Cardiac Sonographer exhibits courteous behavior when addressing the general public and outside hospital related agencies. The Cardiac Sonographer supports and contributes to departmental and hospital objectives by functioning as a technologist in all aspects of echocardiography . The Cardiac Sonographer complies with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, and the requirements of accrediting bodies. The Cardiac Sonographer adheres to established policies and procedures of the department and the hospital.

Qualifications

Education & Training:  Associate Degree in Allied Health or Certificate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program

 

Experience:  1 year Echocardiography experience or equivalent

 

License & Certification:  Cardiac Sonographer registry required within six months of employment.
