JOB SUMMARY

Assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities and developing solutions to meet the patients’ needs.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist patients with understanding medical costs
  • Help patient organize and coordinate their financial obligations
  • Work with health insurance providers to determine coverage and benefits
  • Advise patients of procedure costs and alternative sources of funding
  • Help patients identify resources that could help them with health care bills
  • Answer patient questions regarding financial issues, payment options, medical coverage, and assistance programs
  • Assist patient in finding second opinion or follow-up care when necessary or required by a health plan or insurance plan
  • Enter daily charge tickets and complete daily TES edits
  • Responsible for daily office deposits
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in health care, preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Knowledgeable in medical procedures and medical terminology
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Analytical abilities required identifying and resolving patient inquiries relating to his or her account.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Well organized and have good problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and schedule job duties.
  • Must be able to match medical terms to the correct codes.
  • Must understand insurance carrier payment and billing regulations in order to correctly balance bill.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office environment – office, stilling, computer, walking, lifting, etc.
