Overview

The Vice President of Marketing and Communications is the executive strategist responsible for leading the planning, development and execution of the organization's marketing and communications strategic initiatives.

The VP of Marketing and Communications ensures the organization's message is distributed across multiple channels and to targeted audiences to meet goals and objectives of UofL Health and the entities and service lines across the integrated regional academic health system. This role also utilizes key initiatives to identify marketing trends and direct the market research efforts, liaising with key executives to guide a unified approach to meet market demands and to define marketing strategies supporting the health system’s overall strategies and objectives.

The VP of Marketing and Communications leads the initiatives that drive awareness and demand for the brand through all marketing channels through the successful management of six key divisions: public relations, advertising, communications, physician relations, digital, and strategic account management. In addition, this role also oversees the implementation of both the creative and analytical side of traditional marketing channels (TV, radio, outdoor) and digital marketing strategies. Leads internal and external communications, public relations, strategic account management, and physician liaisons initiatives, to drive awareness, consideration, and conversion for the UofL Health brand.

Responsibilities

 

Serve as the entities lead marketing and communications executive responsible for: 

  • Provides executive level strategic direction for all aspects of marketing and communications, internally and externally.
  • Fiscally responsible for effectively managing a multi-million-dollar marketing budget to position the organization as the market healthcare leader.
  • Establishes and reinforces brand guidelines and logo applications throughout the organization.
  • Develops and implements marketing plans that attract and retain patients, organization wide as well as site specific.
  • Defines, directs, and leads all aspects of the marketing operations function.
  • Defines the development of market communications plans and manages their execution.
  • Oversees and directs all advertising programs to assure a positive view of the organization. 
  • Creates and sets the tone for UofL Health’s creative direction and output.
  • Oversees and drives media and branding strategies including vendor partner engagement and relationships.
  • Oversees and drives the public relations strategies to obtain a competitive share of voice.
  • Oversees and drives internal strategic communications to over 13,000 employees and providers.
  • Oversees the development of crisis communications plans.
  • Oversees and drives web, digital and social media strategies.
  • Determines market research activities and metrics to support business decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Master’s preferred in marketing, business, leadership or healthcare administration.
  • 10+ years of effective executive marketing success in a health care delivery setting.
  • 10+ years’ leading a marketing function at the c-suite level.
  • Expertise in academic or non-profit healthcare settings preferred.
