JOB SUMMARY: 

The Manager of Revenue Cycle will work with individual facilities, post-acquisition, integration, and growth initiatives and/or expansion of services, serving as the point of contact for the Revenue Cycle Executive leadership to provide due diligence and leadership support. Revenue Cycle includes Patient Access, Health Information Management and AR Operations departments, and collaboration with Case Management and various clinical leadership.  Must be able to work in a fast-pace work environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Business and Finance Manager for Revenue Cycle Department(s).
• Assists in identifying key revenue cycle items, processes, updates of note for consideration.
• Prepares and analyzes appropriate due diligence check list and prepares an analysis for executive management.
• Monitor indicators of revenue cycle excellence; cash collections, aged A/R, DNFC, DNFB, denials, cost-to-collect, bad debt, charity care, etc. for each facility.
• Responsible for the facility provider enrollment third-party payors for billing and set-up of electronic transfer funds (EFT) working closely with AR Operations, Payor Contracting and the bank lockboxes.
• Monitor each of the Revenue Cycle Department(s) budgets and obtain notes on variances.
• Point of contact between Revenue Cycle and Physician Credentialing to resolve edits/denials related to NPI numbers and tracks unbillable services by the residents as related to academics.
• Participates in standing meetings to discuss open items and issues impacting cash flow.
• Contribute to positive business results by maintaining a workplace characterized by high performance, mutual support and respect, and teamwork.
• Regularly search for and identify opportunities for quality and process improvement resulting in improved efficiency and increased productivity.
• Responsible for keeping Revenue Cycle executive leadership up to date, includes verbal and written.
• Review and provide pre-approval of write-offs or adjustments needing final approval of the executive leadership, i.e. Financial Assistance, Third-Party Liability settlements, complaints.
• Performs various audits to validate processes and compliance throughout the revenue cycle.
• Maintains an understanding of regulatory requirements for Government and third-party payers, including billing and payment guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
• Work with other management and leadership to improve collections, reduce accounts receivable, reduce denials, and reduce avoidable write-offs through issue identification, research, communication, and process improvement.
• Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Department Directors to develop and document department policy and procedures.
• Provides weekly written report of activity and updates to the VP Revenue Cycle.
• Other revenue cycle related duties assigned which may not be outlined above.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration, accounting or equivalent experience
• Advanced knowledge of revenue cycle operations
• 3 + years' experience with a strategic understanding and broad view of hospital Revenue Cycle operations
• Cerner and STAR experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Sedentary Work: Lifting 10lbs. maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying items as needed.
• Frequent Talking (Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.)
• Frequent Hearing (Perceiving the nature of the sounds by the ear.)
• Frequent Seeing (Visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision, color vision).
• Consistent use of hand movement for keyboarding purposes.
• Concentration varies depending on the tasks at hand. High levels of mental concentration are required. Must handle multiple tasks simultaneously and is subject to interruptions. Physical effort requires sitting and reaching with hands and arms. Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to speak and hear are required.
