UofL Hospital, an academic teaching and research hospital, is at the heart of the Louisville metro area in downtown Louisville. UofL Hospital offers a second-to-none cancer center, world-renowned trauma team, and a uniquely streamlined, nationally accredited stroke center. UofL Hospital is the only adult Level I trauma center in the region. The hospital is also the home to the only dedicated burn center in Kentucky.

The Center for Women and Infants is a designated Baby-Friendly birthing facility by Baby-Friendly USA. The designation is awarded to birth centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding. UofL Hospital’s Center for Women & Infants is the only downtown Louisville facility to earn this designation. It’s the fourth facility in Kentucky to have it.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technician vocational or technical program/school.
• Completion of a UofL Health surgical technologist program.
• Completion of a hospital based surgical technologist training program. 
• Graduates of a military training program in surgical technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.
• One year experience in operating room as surgical technician or clinical rotations at University Hospital.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CST – Certified Surgical Technician
