Department: Revenue Cycle

 

Overview

The intern will support the revenue cycle team in their goal to reduce and avoid denials related to Inpatient Only (IPO) procedures.  The intern will work with the Pre-Access team to understand the IPO list and impact.   They will monitor and review the surgery schedule daily, escalating concerns to the proper team members.  They will be expected to meet with surgical services leaders to discuss findings and action plans.  They will also be expected to assist in ensuring that all inpatient orders are entered into Cerner properly.

This internship will last 12-15 weeks.

  • Performs assigned tasks and work related to the Revenue Cycle inpatient-only denials reduction project.
  • Maintains effective communication with internal and external stakeholders via email, phone and in-person meetings.
  • Contributes to team initiatives and goals.
  • Assists with additional projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently working on completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, or relevant field from an accredited school (required)
  • Previous coursework or experience in a healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Familiarity with healthcare administration or clinical environments (preferred)
