Overview

The research finance analyst position is responsible for facilitating the UofL Health departmental review process to help determine the impact to operations in affected areas and to help ensure all costs are identified and any concerns are addressed early in the facility review process. The position also coordinates the monthly accounting and reporting of research services and related accounts receivable, including patient accounting and the additional administrative tasks that our clinical service lines must complete per research protocol requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical research protocols for financial/operational impact & work with UofL Health departments to identify all applicable costs
• Review and approve the coverage analysis of billable items and services submitted by clinical researchers
• Provide research pricing to clinical researchers
• Prepare coverage analysis documents as requested
• Review final clinical research budgets to ensure accurate coverage analysis, pricing and UofL Health cost coverage
• Complete Cerner POM set up
• Develop billing profile for administrative fees and pharmacy fees as required by clinical research studies and establish payment process.
• Prepare, submit and maintain CMS and CGS approvals for investigational device trials.
• Review and track UofL Health research invoices and payments
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

• Bachelor’s degree in business, medical coding a plus. Years of experience can be substituted for formal degree.

 

Experience (required and preferred):

• Experience in healthcare finance, revenue cycle, coding or accounting. 3-5 years of experience in research administration is preferred.
