The Ultrasound Technologists performs examinations according to established protocols. The Ultrasound Technologists demonstrates an understanding of human cross sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. The Ultrasound Technologists maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and imaging technique. The Ultrasound Technologists supports the mission of the hospital and department by excellent customer relations skills.
• Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination being performed, including correct patient identification and order verification
• Assess patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure
• Performs pre and post exam patient education pertinent to exam being performed
• Produces scans according to established protocols within the Diagnostic Imaging Department with a high degree of accuracy
• Evaluates finished images for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality
• Discusses technical findings with Radiologist
• Ensures examinations are complete to include, Cerner completion and PACS review
• Instructs Radiology Residents and students in the Ultrasound scanning protocols (depending on facility)
• Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities
Education:
• Graduated from accredited US program (required)
Experience:
• 3 years prior ultrasound experience (preferred)
Licensure:
• ARDMS or within 1 year of hire date (required)
• One specialty area ( i.e. abdomen, vascular, OBGYN) (required)
Certification:
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (required)
