The Staff Chaplain will work as a professional on the interdisciplinary team without direct supervision and be able to relate comfortably and supportively with patients and their families, physicians, hospital employees, and all levels of management. The staff chaplain will provide spiritual care throughout the hospital and to diverse populations through assessment of spiritual and existential needs and culturally sensitive interventions based upon such assessment. He/she will be a skilled crisis counselor and be able to communicate empathically and with sensitivity to others’ frame of reference. The staff chaplain will work cooperatively with other disciplines as a member of the health care delivery team and also respond to the spiritual needs of staff and of the organization.
EDUCATION & TRAINING: |
Master of Divinity degree from an accredited school or equivalent. Four units of successfully completed clinical Pastoral Education. |
EXPERIENCE: |
At least one year of parish or healthcare ministry. |
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: |
Board-certification as a professional chaplain or eligibility for such certification. |
