Overview

The Behavior Analyst provides behavioral services to patients admitted to our inpatient Innovations Program serving children and adolescents with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) including Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and other diagnoses.

Responsibilities

  • Completes functional assessment of behaviors.
  • Develops and implements individualized function based behavior plans based on results of functional assessment. Models the implementation of plan and trains plans to team members. Reviews patient progress and modifies interventions based on data.
  • Develops, refines, provides leadership for and trains general program protocols (e.g., level system, data collection, unit schedule, reinforcement procedures, crisis intervention).
  • Provides training to direct care staff, Registered Nurses, family members and other caregivers involved in the patient’s treatment.
  • Provides direct behavior therapy and active treatment programming on individual and/or group basis including proactive strategies and crisis intervention and models programming for all team members.
  • Collaborates with treatment team including patient, parents, caregivers, guardians, outside professionals, MD, RN, therapists and co-workers.
  • Assists with maintaining a structured milieu and general programming on the unit.
  • Collects, records, and summarizes data on observable patient behavior.
  • Effectively communicates with parents, caregivers, guardians, outside agencies and other treatment providers regarding patient progress.
  • Accepts participation in special projects and appointments to hospital committees as appropriate.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, education or psychology required

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in human service field

Licensure:

  • Licensed as a Behavior Analyst in the state of Kentucky within 4 months of hire.

Certification:

  • Board Certification (BCBA) required

Basic Life Support (BLS) certified and able to perform the BLS techniques
