About Us
UofL Health - Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is a 298-bed, full-service hospital which has served generations of patients in south Louisville. Originally founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1874, the hospital offers a full range of vascular, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, surgical, rehabilitative and 24/7 emergency services including 24/7 STEMI service.
Mary & Elizabeth Hospital is home to UofL Health – Weight Loss Care, the region’s only weight-loss management program utilizing the Lap-Band® System. In addition, the hospital provides the Orbera® gastric balloon procedure. The hospital has been recognized as one of the first health care facilities in the nation to receive a Blue Distinction® Center for bariatric surgery.
The hospital partnered with sister facility, UofL Health – Peace Hospital to open a voluntary inpatient medical detox unit at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital to care for patients with substance use disorders. Most recently, Cancer & Blood Specialists, located adjacent to the Mary & Elizabeth Hospital campus, became the third location of UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center. At the center, patients will have continuity of care with trusted oncology and hematology providers, along with access to the multidisciplinary care, pioneering research and clinical trials of the Brown Cancer Center. In addition to the hospital, Mary & Elizabeth has three medical plazas on its campus to provide office space for a wide array of primary care and specialty physicians.

The Employee Health Nurse will provide ongoing health maintenance program encompassing
pre-placement screening and current employee’s job-related health. Employee Health Nurse will also coordinate activities with Infection Control, Workers’ Compensation and hospital safety functions. The employee shall present a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians and other members of the hospital staff and general public. Employee shall comply with all department and hospital policies/procedures and support and contribute to department objectives.
· Performs pre-employment health assessments on all job applicants to determine physical ability to perform job desired · Treats, counsels, refers and performs follow-up of job-related illnesses/injuries following all relevant employee health /hospital policies · Maintains employee health files that accurately reflect interaction · Assist with annual flu campaign and fit testing to ensure compliance · Assist with maintaining employee health office hours |
Other Functions: |
· Works closely with the Claims Specialist, physicians and other appropriate individuals to monitor employee treatment/progress · Assist with monitoring employees involved in the Decontamination unit per OSHA regulations and employees involved with chemotherapeutic medication per ONS and NIOSH if applicable to facility · Provides appropriate referral and educational information for employees with non-work-related injuries/illnesses. Works closely with managers, physicians and HR when indicated. · Ensures follow up reminders sent to employees/managers regarding vaccines or TB skin test required · Participates in educational in-services related to employee health, such as needle safety · Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct. · Performs other duties as assigned |
