Location: 530 South Jackson Street  Louisville KY 40202

Shift Options: 3:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m./Full Time

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist shall have a thorough knowledge and proficiency in techniques of blood collection.  The Phlebotomist shall be responsible for appropriate clerical and computer documentation associated with specimen collection requirements. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Performs phlebotomy procedures accurately and within established turn-around times.
  • Recognizes abnormal, unexpected situations and investigates prior to delivering specimen to the testing area.
  • Transports specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Answers phone calls and provides information in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Monitors specimen integrity.
  • Enters patient orders accurately in Hospital and Laboratory Information Systems.
  • Assures documentation for medical necessity.
  • Follow standards of safety dictated by the laboratory, the hospital, and regulatory agencies.
  • Contributes to the efficient operation of the laboratory.
  • Participates in continuing education programs for the upgrade of educational experience.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by laboratory leadership.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPR certification through American Heart Association

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification
