Responsible for the cleaning, processing and wrapping of sterile and unsterile supplies and equipment in accordance with Standard of Practice and Department Policy/Procedure. Cleans and processes flexible endoscopes according to manufacturer’s guidelines and in accordance to recognized infection control standards.
Uses Quality Improvement standards and monitors to improve performance.

Reports any equipment malfunction according to departmental policy and procedure |

Records and maintains documentation regarding the mechanized processing cycles of endoscopes |

Communicates incoming and outgoing messages to appropriate personnel, keeps Charge Nurse and unit staff informed of all instruments and equipment out for repair by using the communications board |

Observes universal precautions |
12. |
Maintains a clean, organized work area. |
13. |
Maintains open communication with the staff and management regarding instrumentation, supplies and other unit activities |
14. |
Transports specimens to the lab |
15. |
Maintains the segregation between contaminated and clean articles |
16. |
Performs other duties as assigned. |
EDUCATION & TRAINING: |
High school graduate; Some experience preferred |
EXPERIENCE: |
Prefer one year’s experience in cleaning, packaging and processing of sterile supplies or demonstrated knowledge of infection control. |
