Overview

The Cardiac Monitor Specialist is responsible for ICD and Pacemaker device interrogation, testing, and diagnostic interpretation. Is cross-trained and assists in other areas of arrhythmia services as needed.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform clinical analysis of pacemaker and ICD patients in the clinic.
  2. Perform ICD checks and pacemaker interrogations.
  3. Document pacemaker/ICD checks into the electronic medical record and reports all findings to the health care provider.
  4. Tests and configures devices to specifications established by a physician or other health care provider.
  5. Enroll and educate new patients into remote monitoring system.
  6. Escalate non-routine issues to the Practice Manager, Pacemaker Clinic Supervisor, or physician.
  7. Communicate with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate abount changes in the patient’s clinical and device conditions.
  8. Print and scan remote checks into the electronic medical record system.
  9. Schedule appointments for follow-up visits when seen in the pacemaker clinic.
  10. Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Heart Rhythm Society certification preferred

2 years working in a pacemaker setting

2 years working in Cardiology
