Overview

This position is responsible for providing safe, efficient and quality transportation service to inpatients and outpatients. Also responsible for assessment and direction of patient care to the necessary medical personnel under certain transport conditions.

Responsibilities

    1. Transports patients by assisting patients in and out of taxis and vehicles; lifting patients on and off beds; moving them to and from special service and treatment areas; using wheelchairs, stretchers and moveable beds.      
    2. Comforts patients and their families by offering support and encouragement; being punctual and attentive to procedure schedules; demonstrating caring and cultural sensitivity.
    3. Transports deceased patients by following protocols and delivering them to the mortuary.
    4. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with federal and state legal regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirements.
    5. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
    6. Enhances health care organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
    7. Works with healthcare team members to coordinate patient flow and to ensure that operations are working smoothly.
    8. Ability to perform safe patient transfers via proper safe patient handling techniques
    9. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, staff and the broader health care community.
    10. Any other job duties as assigned or needed.

Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure

 

High school diploma or GED.

BLS Certification required.

 

Experience

 

Good guest relation skills required. Ability to walk long distances, operate a wheelchair and carry items for our patients.
