About the Unit

4 West is a 21-bed pulmonary telemetry unit that provides specialized intermediate nursing care for adult patients with complications of chronic respiratory disease including those suffering from cystic fibrous, tracheotomy, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis and other diseases affecting the lung.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities 

  • Interacts effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, visitors, and other customers utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Maintains the patient record by properly stickering, identifying, and filing all patient documents.
  • Forwards all medical records to the HIM department upon discharge.
  • Ensures station census is accurate and all patients are correct in computer systems.
  • Maintains clean and organized workstations.
  • Reports hazards and unsafe practices to leadership or other appropriate individuals.
  • Orders, stocks, and maintains clerical supplies and patient care documents.
  • Writes legibly and transcribes communication accurately.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

  • Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)

    • Individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 may be employed on a temporary basis in positions not prohibited and for hours not to exceed those prescribed by the Department of Labor and the Commonwealth of Kentucky and who are on the path to earning a high school diploma or GED (see Employment of Minors policy)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Previous clerical/computer experience and medical terminology strongly preferred. Experience with software systems. Experience in charging supplies.
