Job Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician III -Automation

Shift Options: 1st shift  Full Time

 

The Certified Pharmacy Technician-Automation provides daily supportive services for the Department of Pharmacy according to hospital policies and procedures and in compliance with Kentucky pharmacy laws and other regulatory agencies. The technician responds to requests related to medication storage within pharmacy automation in a prompt and efficient manner. The technician actively supports and participates in the department’s continuous quality improvement initiates, competency assessments, and demonstrates a commitment to customer service and patient safety.  Major job responsibilities include: overseeing the operation of all automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) and automated medication storage. This person will be the point of contact and is responsible for answering questions and troubleshooting daily problems and issues concerning the ADC system. In addition, the pharmacy automation technician distributes medications, including controlled substances, to a secure place for storage or administration, restocks ADCs, communicates with hospital staff, completes inspections and audits, and reports unsafe practices to leadership.

 

Qualifications

Education:  High school diploma or GED required.  Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician educational program and/or an Associate's degree.

 

Experience:  Two years of health-system pharmacy technician experience required.

 

License & Certification:  Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.  Current Board certification by PTCB or a licensed pharmacy intern.
