Overview

We are Hiring a Lead Registered Respiratroy Therapist at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital

Shifts: Full Time 6pm-6am

 

The Respiratory Therapist Lead is a respiratory therapist that oversees daily operations of the Respiratory Care department. In doing so, he/she manages daily staffing, assigns work equitably and provides clinical interventions when necessary. The Respiratory Therapist Lead supports and contributes to departmental productivity and organizational objectives by functioning as a leader of the respiratory care team and performs services consistent with his/her scope of licensure. The Respiratory Therapist Lead supports and exhibits behaviors consistent with the organization’s mission and values in offering hope and healing to all.

Responsibilities

1. Delivers respiratory therapy intervention and services as prescribed by the Medical Staff and approved protocols.
2. Effectively communicates relevant information with internal and external customers.
3. Oversees clinical practitioners within the Respiratory Care department.
4. Monitors daily staffing and manages departmental productivity standards.
5. Maintains effective and open lines of communication with employees.
6. Maintains optimal staffing levels.
7. Ensures availability and functionality of necessary equipment.
8. Responds to complaints and/or concerns from internal and external customers.
9. Oversees departmental clinical competency program for direct reports.
10. Organizes and implements departmental and clinical orientation of new employees and newly credentialed/licensed employees.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

 

  • At a minimum, the equivalent of a Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC); such distinction shall be kept current (if applicable).
  • Active license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current certificates from the American Heart Association (AHA) in Basic Life Support (or Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

 

Experience (required and preferred):

The Respiratory Therapist Lead shall have a minimum of three years of respiratory therapy experience in the critical care setting in an acute care or academic medical facility. Additionally, the Respiratory Therapist Lead shall have a minimum of three years serving in a charge respiratory therapist role.
