Overview

UofL Health – Peace Hospital, is a private, non-profit behavioral health hospital. One of the largest behavioral health facilities in the nation, Peace Hospital is known for providing care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Our Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center is the largest and most comprehensive private provider of youth inpatient behavioral health services in the country. Peace operates a full continuum of behavioral health and substance use services for patients, including specialty programs for children and adolescents who have complex treatment needs, such as, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, forensic issues for females and/or co-occurring substance use issues are also offered. Peace Hospital has received several esteemed recognitions. Among them, the “Superhero Award” in August 2022 from the Department of Community Based Services for going above and beyond to meet the needs of youth with very complicated and complex psychiatric and medical conditions, recognition as one of the “Best Places to Work in Kentucky” by the Kentucky Chamber for three consecutive years, and the Quality Award from the Kentucky Hospital Association eight times in recent years.

 

Responsibilities

Job Summary

 

The Chief Executive Officer of Peace Hospital will establish and maintain effective overall operations of the service line's older adults/adults/adolescent/child inpatient and outpatient behavioral health facility. Responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with other executives, physicians, and staff, to provide daily leadership guidance and oversight providing a high degree of clinical service line and cross department collaboration. 
  • Build and grow volumes and revenue through new or existing clinical programs and service offerings.
  • Partner with the Board of Directors and System CEO/COO on strategic planning. Implement inpatient/outpatient behavioral health strategy and initiatives.
  • Ensures hospital and behavioral health regulatory requirements for the Joint Commission, CMS, and Commonwealth of KY are followed.
  • Monitor key operational and financial metrics for improvement opportunities.
  • Organize and build a team to ensure organizational goals relative to quality care, budgets, financial improvement, organizational culture, and cost savings are met. 
  • Create a positive, team-oriented culture that embraces community engagement, employee morale, and patient satisfaction.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial, clinical, and operational reports and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Develops a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
  • Thorough understanding of business acumen/program management; able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and performance goals while minimizing risks to organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of senior-level experience in healthcare administration/management, preferably in a hospital setting
  • Master’s Degree
  • Works collaboratively with the department of psychiatry to implement an academic care model
  • Sophisticated understanding of facility financial matters
  • Proven strategic planning skills and statistical interpretation
  • Highly organized and ability to adapt to different roles in an innovative, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity, performance measures and is solutions oriented.
  • Experience-based knowledge of state and federal regulatory accreditation requirements.
