  • Overview

     

    Participates in the delivery of patient care to the adolescent (12-17) and adults (18-65) of childbearing age.  Functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse for scrubbing vaginal deliveries, and surgical interventions.  Anticipates and provides equipment, supplies and instruments to the delivery and or surgical team for vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections/hysterectomy, tubals, cerclages,  D&Cs, and other OB/GYN related surgical cases using principles of sterile technique.  Assists in the maintenance of equipment and stock, in all areas of Labor and Delivery, to facilitate the care of the patient.  Supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospital. 

    Qualifications

     

    EDUCATION & TRAINING: 

     

    High School graduate, prefer graduate from accredited Surgical Technician Program or previous on-the-job training in a similar type environment, ie. High risk OB. Nurse Technicians must be attending a school of Nursing and have had medical/surgical experience.  

     

    EXPERIENCE: 

     

    Minimum two - three years experience as OB Technician and have knowledge of a septic and sterile techniques 

     

    LICENSE & CERTIFICATION: 

     

    CPR certification required.  Surgical Tech Certification required.
