  • Overview


    Provide patient care to psychiatric patients in the setting of Emergency Psychiatry/Hospital. The Physician Assistant should demonstrate an advanced level of medical knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism as it relates to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.



    * Provide comprehensive psychiatric/medical care in a hospital setting in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

    * Work collaboratively with psychiatry attendings and residents.

    * Coordinate education needs of patients and families.


    * Serve as a resource for nursing staff and other members of the health care team.


    * Actively participate in conferences and presentations as well as other staff education including, but not limited to, quality improvement initiatives as directed.

    * Participate in research activities in areas related to clinical specialty.

    * Participate in clinical data extraction.

    * Maintain currency with all required compliance training programs.

    * Maintain commitment to professional growth and competency as a certified PA.

    * Maintain currency with all hospital privileges, licensures, and certifications.

    * Perform other duties as assigned.



    • Current certification and licensure in the state of Kentucky and/or Indiana as a Physician Assistant.
    • Professional experience in subspecialty is strongly preferred.
    • Current ACLS/BLS required.


    • Practice of medicine within the scope of license.
    • Practice of medicine within the scope of training.
    • Practice of medicine within the scope of credentialing
    • Practice of medicine in accordance with the current standards of care.
    • Practice of medicine in accordance with the quality criteria adopted by the hospital.
    • Promotes a safety-conscious work force and maintains good housekeeping practices.
    • Demonstrates the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
    • Communicates appropriately with the person served regardless of their age.
    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
    • Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of the Corporation through behavior and attitude.



    • Hospital or clinic environment with frequent exposure to electricity, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, infectious waste, fumes or gases, radiation, occasional exposure to laser and constant exposure to blood borne pathogens and biological.
