  • Overview

    The Educator 2 works collaboratively within the Nursing Education to create and facilitate clinical education programs, competence initiatives and professional development activities to support both nursing and clinical practice across University Medical Center, improving the quality of patient care and nursing practice with resultant improved patient outcomes.  This Educator 2 is responsive to evolving educational needs across the system.  This educator serves as a clinical expert, proficient educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, leader and interdisciplinary collaborator in specific area of responsibility across University Medical Center.  This Educator 2 identifies, develops and delivers educational programs for both individuals and groups in both clinical, classroom, and virtual settings.  The Educator 2 fosters empowerment of clinical staff by providing clinical instruction and support to assure clinical competency of staff and safe, effective delivery of patient care, incorporating evidence-based practice (EBP), nursing research, and appropriate skill set standards and recommended practices.  This Educator 2 actively participates in quality improvement (QI), EBP, and nursing research processes across the system.  The position supports core behaviors, standards, values, and missions of University Medical Center, accrediting bodies, and the profession of Nursing as a professional role model.  The Educator 2 also serves as a resource to the community by promoting community outreach, healthcare awareness, and educational opportunities.  The Educator 2 works with area Schools of Nursing to support nursing clinical rotations at University Medical Center.


    Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):



    1. Unrestricted RN license in the state of Kentucky
    2. BSN
    3. Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, Leadership or other health related field or enrolled in an accredited program at the time of hire



    1. National Certification in either clinical specialty or nursing professional development (required within 6 months post hire, as eligible.)

    Experience (required and preferred):



    • Minimum of 5 years as a Registered Nurse
    • Proficiency in EBP
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications
    • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication


    • Previous experience in education and teaching
    • Previous experience in learning technologies, adult learning theory, program planning and management, competency assessment, project management, promoting and supporting change initiatives and formulation and evaluation of learning transfer
