The nurse navigator functions as an advocate, educator, and communicator for the patients with reflux, swallowing and hernia diseases who are referred to UofL Health for management of these clinical conditions. He/ she is expected to orchestrate the organization of the clinic schedules, motility study scheduling, scheduling of endoscopic procedures retrieval of diagnostic studies and orchestrating with the multidisciplinary team. The navigator ensures that all patients receive quality care and comprehensive services within the respective disciplines. In addition, it is expected that the nurse navigator will take a leading role in patient and family education about the disease process, treatment options, and potential side effects.  He/she will serve as the liaison between disciplines and any supportive/community services. Of utmost importance, the navigator will provide the very crucial leadership role within the team, proactively develop processes that streamline and improve the clinical experience for both the patient and referring physicians.  He/she will work closely with marketing and outreach departments to educate referring physicians and facilities on available services and treatment programs.  He/she will be involved in coordinating weekly conferences and database tracking analysis for treatment and outcome purposes.  He/ she will remain available to patients and families for questions after completion of treatment.  He/she will demonstrate the knowledge, skill and coordination to provide the care and guidance to patients after the treatment of their clinical conditions.

Examples of which include but are not limited to various types of forklifts, pallet jacks but manual and electric, inventory carousels, and sortation machinery. The inventory clerk will refill other suppling locations from over stock locations throughout the warehouse to ensure that the appropriate stock levels are maintained. This individual will also be tasked with rotating stock to ensure that the items closest to expiration go out first while removing expired products.
