JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Scheduler is an individual who assists the staff and physician by scheduling patients for appropriate follow up appointments and necessary tests and procedures. The Scheduler functions as a member of the healthcare team with responsibilities that commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated competencies. Direct patient interaction is provided to patients of all ages.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Schedule follow up/return visits to our office for patients.
- Obtain appropriate pre-certification and pre-authorizations, as needed.
- Schedule medical tests and procedures for patients. (i.e. - interventional invasive cardiology procedures, electrophysiology, etc.)
- Discuss patient instructions for procedures with patient so patient has clear understanding of what is expected.
- Calls patients to schedule procedures and give instructions over phone with follow-up letter with instructions.
- Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, online paging systems. Retrieve information from other hospital systems.
- Holds in confidence all matters concerning patients according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Exhibits friendly and helpful behavior.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Two years of scheduling in a multi-specialty clinic, preferred

The Polysom Technologist performs and operates sleep study equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and with physician oversight to include polysomnography, Continuous Positive Airway pressure (CPAP) titration, Home Sleep Testing, and electroencephalography. Responsible for record keeping of patient files, faxing reports as needed, along with other clerical duties as needed. Cleans and prepares equipment for patient use.
The Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling and preparing documentation for all surgeries to be performed by our practice's physicians. This position requires the candidate to contact patients to review medical history, obtain a current medication list and identify any possible preoperative issues. The Scheduler will schedule patients with the appropriate physician based on procedure, priority and availability. Once surgery is scheduled, the Surgery Scheduler will send out informational packets and preoperative instructions to all patients and answer any questions the patient may have regarding their procedure. This position will also support the check-in/check-out position on a rotational basis.

Job Summary
The lead phlebotomist shall assist the Phlebotomy Supervisor by coordinating the daily activities of processors and phlebotomists. The employee shall perform technical work as well as supervisory duties. The primary functions of this position are ensuring phlebotomy collections are performed within established turn-around times and ensuring specimens are processed in a timely manner upon receipt in the Laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates daily activities of the Processors and Phlebotomists
- Performs technical work as well as supervisory duties.
- Ensures collections are performed within established times.
- Teaches Phlebotomy classes to laboratory and nursing personnel.
- Teaches CPR classes to laboratory and nursing personnel.
- Performs and maintains time and attendance.
- Ensures specimens are processed in a timely manner.
- Monitors and distributes daily workload.
- Actively supports and promotes hospital and laboratory Infection Control and Safety policies.
- Assures compliance with Medical Necessity.
- Acts as a role model while supporting the core behaviors, standards, values, and missions of the organization.
- Demonstrates proficient interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates competency in technical and critical thinking.
- Performs phlebotomy, processing, neonatal collection and reference lab send out, preceptor training
- Reviews, investigates, and responds to customer complaints and deviations to processes
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification through American Heart Association
- 2 years phlebotomy experience
- Previous specimen processing experience
