The Mental Health Tech (MHT) participates in the delivery of patient care to the psychiatric patient in crisis, under the supervision of an RN. The MHT will assist in providing, monitoring, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Other responsibilities include specimen collection, activities of daily living, behavioral management, crisis intervention, and implementation of patient treatment in accordance with physician orders, RN directives, hospital and unit specific policies and procedures, and defined standards of patient care and clinical practice. Job Summary
The Phlebotomist shall have a thorough knowledge and proficiency in techniques of blood collection. The Phlebotomist shall be responsible for appropriate clerical and computer documentation associated with specimen collection requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy procedures accurately and within established turn-around times.
- Recognizes abnormal, unexpected situations and investigates prior to delivering specimen to the testing area.
- Transports specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
- Answers phone calls and provides information in a courteous and professional manner.
- Monitors specimen integrity.
- Enters patient orders accurately in Hospital and Laboratory Information Systems.
- Assures documentation for medical necessity.
- Follow standards of safety dictated by the laboratory, the hospital, and regulatory agencies.

UofL Hospital Main Downtown Campus is home to a 28-bed PreOp and PACU where they provide service to a large population of patients from all over the country. The nurses in this area come from critical care and mixed acuity that provide top notch care to services lines such as neurosurgery, urology, cancer, trauma, burn, plastics, vascular, colorectal, and general surgeries. The surgical services area is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year to cater to all cases including trauma/emergencies. Scheduled cases per day can range from 35-50 with a nurse-to-patient ratio ranging from 1:1 to 2:1 based on ASPAN guidelines. Surgical holds nurse-to-patient ratio range from 4:1 to 5:1

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for all activities that enable protected health information (PHI) to undergo processing and committal to permanent electronic storage in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), while preserving the integrity of patient’s Legal Health Record (LHR) for future retrieval and accessibility. Responsible for prepping, scanning, and indexing of patient care documents into the Health Information Management System (HIMS) to ensure document filing accuracy and positive patient identification. Maintains a positive and professional relationship with all departments and physicians to ensure continuity and the highest quality of patient care. Able to perform multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patient records, and utilize multiple hospital computer systems to perform daily tasks. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Discuss patient instructions for procedures with patient so patient has clear understanding of what is expected.
- Calls patients to schedule procedures and give instructions over phone with follow-up letter with instructions.
- Use Allscripts, Centricity Business, online paging systems. Retrieve information from other hospital systems.
- Holds in confidence all matters concerning patients according to HIPAA guidelines.
