Overview
The intern will support the UofL Health Emergency Preparedness team on ongoing projects and initiatives including education and training exercises for the hospital system response to possible disasters throughout the system and community.
The intern will assist in coordination of emergency preparedness training schedules, coordination of use and routine testing of disaster-related equipment, and monitoring of global events to identify potential threats or opportunities and how they may impact the UofL Health system.

Project: Inpatient Only Procedures – Denials Reduction
Overview
The intern will support the revenue cycle team in their goal to reduce and avoid denials related to Inpatient Only (IPO) procedures. The intern will work with the Pre-Access team to understand the IPO list and impact. They will monitor and review the surgery schedule daily, escalating concerns to the proper team members. They will be expected to meet with surgical services leaders to discuss findings and action plans. They will also be expected to assist in ensuring that all inpatient orders are entered into Cerner properly.
This internship will last 12-15 weeks.

9 East is a 25-bed ortho/neuro trauma unit. This unit cares for trauma patients who had surgery to stabilize broken bones from an injury along with trauma downgrades from the intensive care units. Patients for this unit typically came from the Emergency Room, Surgery and intensive care units. Pre operative and post operative nursing care is common on this unit. This unit is comprised of private and semi-private patient rooms.

The Accounts Receivable Customer Service Specialist answers incoming telephone calls, i.e., patients, insurance companies, physician offices, etc. regarding questions on hospital accounts. With resolution, assists patient/guarantor/insurance companies on inquiries of a patient account. Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Service Center Manager this position is responsible for the receipt and put away of all inbound supplies to the warehouse. The clerk will ensure all inbound product is properly verified against the packing slip and received into the warehouse computer system. This individual will also be responsible for loading all received products into their proper location within the warehouse. The inventory clerk will refill other suppling locations from over stock locations throughout the warehouse to ensure that the appropriate stock levels are maintained. This individual will also be tasked with rotating stock to ensure that the items closest to expiration go out first while removing expired products. In order to perform their duties, the warehouse clerk will be required to operate various warehouse equipment. Examples of which include but are not limited to various types of forklifts, pallet jacks both manual and electric, inventory carousels, and sortation machinery.
